HAMLET

THE HONEST FISHMONGERS 2011 production of “HAMLET” was said to be “full of rewarding surprises” by Colin Thomas, calling director Kevin Bennett “an artist to watch”; also naming Julie McIsaac’s portrayal of Ophelia “stunning” and Simon Webb’s work at Polonius “stellar”. Peter Birnie writes that the “exhilarating production of the tragedy is a marvellous mix of innovation and temperance”; also noting that “Ryhs Finnick's Hamlet is a bubbling cauldron of fury”. Jo Ledingham wrote that the production “offers a fresh, new take on Hamlet by making it immediate, intimate, accessible” and called Rhys Finnick’s portrayal of the title role “a younger, hipper Hamlet”.

Actor Simon Webb was the winner of the Jessie Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, Small Theatre for his role as Polonius in ‘Hamlet’, and actress Julie McIsaac was nominated for the Jessie Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, Small Theatre for her role as Ophelia.
